About my Vanagon
Bomb Proof was dreamed up when I was 23 after driving an 81 aircooled Vanagon for a couple of years. What are the possibilities? I fell in love with the Vanagon for the same reasons everyone who ever owned one has, raw logic and utility. However mine was not exactly in the "camping" service but in a good platform to make go fast and handle well.?? I know, personal giggles, but with a perfect 50/50 weight split front to back, 4 wheel independant susp. and a motor compartment that will house just about any power plant you want....mmmmm the dream at 23 did not come to fruition until I was 35. In any case, the important thing is that it finally did happen, I wouldn't sell it for anything.
The criticals: Audi 7A 5cyl 20v N/A w/early stainless steel header ceramic coated, with 034 motorsports tuner parts including injecter upgrade, intake plenum spacer kit, Cam timing gear, 034 stage one chip, K&N airfilter, Front and rear disk brake conversions from 91 Audi 200 Avant, Driveline Decoupler, rear limited slip diff, H&R sport springs, bilsteins rear, old man emu fronts, Front larger anti sway bar, 16x9 TSW Hockenheim wheel with Falken rubber(This van eats tires), Short shift kit, Momo Wheel and Shift knob, Audi gauges from motor doaner car(Audi 90), etc. I think that covers most of the good stuff. It's a hoot to drive. I arrived at my "middle age crisis" just as I finished this van. I don't need to go shopping and it fits the kids that have arrived in the last couple of years.
